In the late sixties my father built me a Slot Car Track, or Scalextric track as we use to call it. Many years have passed and now in my retirement years I have returned to an old passion: Slot Cars!!
It started with a Ninco track and every time a new layout. Then the big decision: It is time for a permanent track, mainly for convenient reasons (not to have to bend to the floor to pick up a de-slotted car.) The permanent layout called for some character, buildings, billboards, footbridge, grandstands, etc. These were rather expensive and hard to get hold of in SA.
The next chapter in this story: I started to use my design skills to design a range of buildings and structures and have them laser cut from 3mm MDF. The pieces were then assembled, glued, painted and branded. The Dunlop Footbridge which was inspired by the bridge at Killarney Raceway in Cape Town in the late sixties, was the first to be completed.
Then the realization: Other people may have the same need and I can supply them.
In summary: This is not a business, its is merely sharing what I have produced for myself with others. In the process I hope to have a self sustained hobby!
